Common Lawn Care Problems in Rhode Island
While we service all different areas of the state, believe it or not, this doesn’t mean every area faces the same exact issues. When it comes to lawn care services in Rhode Island, we have seen first-hand certain issues pop up in one town, but not another! Here are some of those examples:
- Grubs: Our technicians see a lot more grub activity in Cranston, Providence, East Providence, and Narragansett. While we see some areas with more grub activity than others, we recommend to all our customers to apply grub prevention, no matter where they are in the state. Not all customers opt to get grub prevention. However, without it, your lawn runs the serious risk of an expensive problem (potentially thousands of dollars worth) of damage to their lawn.
- Nutsedge: Our technicians see a lot more nutsedge in Barrington, Cranston, and Warwick than in any other town. What is nutsedge? Nutsedge or “nutgrass” is a weed that looks like grass and is very invasive. It thrives in wet areas that can be caused by poor drainage or too frequently watering. It is best to water established lawns deeply but infrequently, which allows the surface soil to become dry between water applications.
- Mosquitoes: Lastly, we get a lot of calls for mosquito sprays in South County and Central Rhode Island during the lawn care season. Why are mosquitoes so bad in certain areas? South County, Charlestown, and South Kingstown seem to be the worst towns for mosquitoes. This is mostly due to the water table, salt ponds, and marshy areas. In Central Rhode Island, Exeter and Scituate’s mosquitoes are mostly due to the densely wooded areas.
Do these issues sound familiar, we can help! If you need a lawn care service in Rhode Island, it’s your lucky day because we service most of the state. Call MissionGreen now at (401) 475-9884 to get a FREE quote and further protect and grow your lawn!
